The funny thing is that prior to the 2000 election Henley was pretty much an equal-opportunity slammer when it came to societal trends he didn't like. (See in comparison "Life in the Fast Lane", "Dirty Laundry", "End of the Innocence", "In the Garden of Allah".) Henley even wrote an eulogy to the Sixties activist movement with "Sad Cafe" and "Hotel California". But hating on Dubya is cool, so he is on the Leftward trend again. Ah, aging leftist Boomer nostalgia....

I got the album recently, and it has 2 disks and over 30 track for $11.98. Say what you want about the anti-war stuff, the Eagles know how to reach out to the fans. Disc 1 has no political songs on it, so you may listen & enjoy without regret, and use Disc 2 as an Eagles-themed coaster if you want.

I'd love to see video of one of Henley's civil debates, where a rock star spews his obnoxious, ill-informed opinions, and the audience responds civilly, by agreeing with him.

I really like Don Henley's music, but his politics make me want to Henry David Thoreau up. He should move to Walden Wood and fondle himself.

/ok, I'm better now
//I'd still like to find his inner child and kick its little ass
