Thanks, Petitedov, I'm kind of proud of that one myself. I've got some more pics and verbage ... been busy with my sister's visit ... but that is the best pic of the lot.

LagunaDave, right on about Hamilton's counterweight to Jefferson's more insidious tendencies. I need to read a bit more about Hamilton specifically.

IMO, Alexander Hamilton pretty much originated what developed into modern conservative political philosophy. Much of what he foresaw has come to pass, or is coming to pass.

His contributions to the Federalist Papers are acknowledged, but what is less appreciated is his role as the counter-weight to Jefferson's Jacobin tendencies in President Washington's administrations. Hamilton was an economic visionary, who first saw clearly how the United States could evolve into an economic superpower, and then created the policies that would enable it to do so.

If some djinni gave me the opporunity to meet one politician who had *NOT* been elected President, Hamilton would be the one, I am pretty sure.

Decades later, Abraham Lincoln praised Hamilton for being among "the most noted anti-slavery men of his time."
