I'm committed to try to survive my new job and finish my college degree. Beyond that, I make no promises. :-)

Tonight at work two high school boys came in to shop right before we closed. Conversion (the ratio of store traffic to # of sales that they force us to calculate every two hours) was tanking, so I showed them some products men can use in hopes that they'd buy. They muttered something about shopping for girlfriends, so I showed them some clearanced Valentine's stuff. They asked what kinds of stuff my boyfriend liked, and I replied that I didn't have one to speak of. The fourteen-year-old with zits looked genuinely surprised and concerned, and said that was too bad. Then he brightened and told me he could get me a boyfriend. I did not commit to taking him up on that offer. I think it's safe to say you've hit a low point when a teenager offers to hook you up.

Uh, who's talking about sex? I'm saying it's wise to be cautious before entering a long-term commitment and that it's sometimes wisdom and not irrational fear. End of my point.

"Also–”tight-leather-pantsy”???"

My name for hedonist stolen from Dafydd ab Hugh. I don't know that we disagree very much about your main point except ... maybe we should not go "all the way" unless we are ready to commit? I am a guy, BTW.

“When you side with a man, you stick with him. Otherwise, you’re some kind of animal”.

Yeah, but that's assuming you've already sided with him. I'm not talking about deserting a commitment, I'm talking about forming one to begin with. Proceeding with caution is no bad thing.

Also--"tight-leather-pantsy"???

Too tight-leather-pantsy. From the "Wild Bunch": "When you side with a man, you stick with him. Otherwise, you're some kind of animal".

Nope. Just that reluctance to commit could also be a sign of prudence rather than just the irrational fear it's often painted as.

Yikes! remind me not to check your blog for romantic inspiration on V-day in the future! Are you insinuating those who do not avoid commitment do not know what a big thing it is?
