It’s On

Jedi Allah predicts my Peyton chokes. Sith.

Update: Take that, haters! It wasn’t too pretty, but they won and covered the spread. Moral of the story: Never hang your hats on a fluke kickoff return, children. And treat your running backs and your O-line real nice.

  1. I have a horrible video signal! #$%%^ CBS/WBBM.

  2. The uncle, the weasel, took the Bears. Which means if they win, or lose by less than seven points, he gets a steak dinner with wine. And they’re already ahead.

The Bears have better kicking than the Colts, BTW, Anwyn.

  3. I hope that you don’t mind that I’m watching the game with you. My family is in Florida with the uncle.

  4. Alone in Chicago during a Chicago Super Bowl? Ouch!

Which is about all I can say for the game so far, as well. :(

  5. Well, I should say, during a BEARS Super Bowl. :)

  6. Told you. Great job by Peyton and Wayne. 53-yard pass. Snow blew the snap. 7-6.

  7. […] Thing is, God, I’m hoping You are a Colts fan. If Chicago wins, we won’t hear the end of it for another 21 years and that, Lord, would be a living hell. […]

  8. They all look like they’ve never played in rain before. I wonder if the Colts’ new stadium is going to be a dome. :P

  9. (I never drink in public, but I like a drink when watching football. So no Super Bowl party for me.)

Back to the game. Urlacher stole the ball. Grossman threw a five-yard pass, big deal. Mohammed (?) made the extra point though. 14-6.

  10. Well, I never watch football, NK. But I drink in public. So, since there are four loud men downstairs in my family room watching this game, I’ll drink for you and you can watch the game for me. How’s that?

  11. Hi Kate. :)

Now THESE are my Colts. Short (complete!) passes, short (over the line!) rushes. Keep it up, boys.

  12. Hi, Anwyn! Well, while the Super Bowl party goes on downstairs, I’m finishing my Once a Month cooking (which is all now in the crockpot, the microwave, the convection oven, the regular oven or simmering on the stove). That means I’ve got time to give myself a pedicure! Or, wait. Maybe I’ll take a nap.

    Decisions, decisions.

  13. 16-14, Colts. Maybe I will be the one eating that steak and drinking the wine after all. Very good game so far, Kate. It reminds of the Patriots vs. Philadelphia. A lesson in how to play football.

  14. Colts are settling down. Like their namesakes, they tend to be skittish early on.

  15. The Colts just blew the field goal. Their kicking is very bad, tonight. How many Mannings are in this game, anyway?

  17. Missed the half-time show, completely. Prince just does not push my buttons. Is he even a girl thing? I just don’t get his success.

    Comment by nk — February 4, 2007 @ 5:23 pm

  18. He’s certainly not my thing. I skipped halftime too.

  19. The Colts finally get a kick in. 19-14, Colts. Two more points to go.

    Comment by nk — February 4, 2007 @ 5:42 pm

  20. 22-14, Colts. That steak dinner is looking nearer and nearer. Hint: When the waitress asks, “How do you like your steak cooked?”, answer, “The way the chef thinks it should be cooked”.

  21. Three-point field goal by the Bears. The Bears definitely have better kicking. 22-17, Colts.

  22. The Bears definitely have better kicking???

Dude, you do know the name “Adam Vinatieri,” no?

    Comment by Anwyn — February 4, 2007 @ 6:09 pm

  23. Prince pushes every one of my buttons. But, then, I’m a former musician and a wannabe singer who worked in radio right when Purple Rain came out and, hence, wound up dressing much like The Artist.

So, yeah, he rocks my world. Particularly when he riffs Jimi singing a song that Bob wrote. Think of it as a trifecta: my lifetime’s most versatile musician singing something once played by rock’s guitar virtuoso and written by one of the more impressive poets since, well, Ginsberg and Kerouac.

    Comment by Venomous Kate — February 4, 2007 @ 6:12 pm

  24. Well, touche, Anwyn. The Colts’ defense finally rose to the task and the kicker (I have horrible video and cannot read the jerseys) kicked in the extra point. But I believe that it was Vinatieri that missed that previous field goal. 29-17, Colts.

    Comment by nk — February 4, 2007 @ 6:32 pm

  25. Yeah, he missed. It’s a rare occurrence, though … knock on wood.

  26. Ok, the Colts are running down the clock. Congratulations, Anwyn.

  27. Thanks! Me and my Peyton jersey had everything to do with it, of course. ;)

  28. Kate, it was a pleasure meeting you.

  29. Chokes? Yeahright. What’s he think? He’s some kind of Jedi; waving his hand around like that? ;-)

Prince ruled that halftime show too.

    Comment by Allen — February 4, 2007 @ 7:07 pm

  30. Hahah. I didn’t watch halftime; never was a Prince fan. Apparently I missed out. C’est la vie. Somebody who can capture video stills needs to update the Wiki page for “Manning face.” That is *not* the Manning face. Every time I see Peyton, he’s making *this* face … oh yeah, I’m not that person who can capture stills from video.

    Comment by Anwyn — February 4, 2007 @ 7:10 pm

  31. Great meeting you, too, NK!
